Grace was invited by North East organisation M10 to lead a team of young 16-25 year olds out to Mexico to build houses for those living below the poverty line, working for poor wages and living in extreme sub-standard conditions. The team built a timber frame construction with their own hands from scratch, in extreme heat, on an exposed site under a strict time limit.

Teams were split into sub teams consisting of a frame team, roof team, painting team, plasterboarding and internal trims. Training was provided prior to leaving the UK and on site whilst working together, coaching throughout the process.

The trip was a life transforming experience, both for the family the team grew to love: to finally have a home that was no longer a health risk and life line for a better future, to the young adults themselves who overcame their initial fears and completed not 1 but 3 houses. We could not be prouder of the group from the North East, who proved that no matter what age, they can make a difference.
